Nothing is fulfilling as celebrating the joy of Christmas! This was evident as the Colorado Ugandan Community youngsters got together at the Little Turtle Club House to celebrate the same. With over 30 youngsters in attendance and a handful of parents, the afternoon was full of energy and excitement! The story teller, Mr. Tim O’leaorie did not disappoint because he engaged the youngsters with similar energy. Mr. O’leaorie asked the youngsters to choose between two stories: The story about the Monkey and the Fish or the story about Tolu and Toku. Overwhelmingly the majority youngsters chose the Monkey and Fish story. The Monkey and Fish story was so interesting that Mr. O’leaorie would jump in the air to demonstrate the Monkey’s reaction and crawl on the floor to demonstrate the limbless fish. In between the youngsters were dying with laughter.
To keep with the theme of the day and that was celebrating Christmas together as kids in the community, Mr. Santa Clause appeared from the chimney and there he sat at the fire place. This excited the kids plus the eventual photo shoots on Santa’s lap. Other activities that filled the day included the “miss a chair dance”. Zac Nyombi won in his age group(8-13) and Sanyu won in the 4-7 age a group(congratulations to both). The Mannequin challenge was another exciting moment and the video recording shall tell the story.
Besides the above activities, the youngsters had a lot to eat plus drinks and left with a lot of gifts, bonded with each other and are looking forward to the next event that is for them and only them.
Organizing a community event for kids takes a lot of time and devotion. Therefore we must thank: Mrs. Esther Lyles Ms, Grace Nakyanja, Ms. Edith Muyinda, Ms. Victoria Kyakuwa and Ms. Anne Sempa, for a job well done.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
